About

Wilkinson, Carmody & Gilliam was established in 1895 by John Dallas Wilkinson and A.T. Alexander in the Wells Fargo building on Market Street in Shreveport and is the oldest firm in Louisiana west of the Mississippi River. Two of our longtime clients include The Kansas City Southern Railway Company (whom we began representing in 1898) and Southwestern Electric Power Company.

Today, the firm’s partners, Bobby S. Gilliam, Jonathan P. McCartney, and Mark E. Gilliam (Of Counsel) have over 80 years of combined experience practicing law. Our attorneys are known for excelling in certain areas of litigation, including commercial and corporate litigation, public utility and regulatory law, transportation and railroad law, insurance defense, employment law and medical malpractice defense.

Small size, big service

Throughout our 129-year history, we have chosen the smaller firm approach to provide a more personalized service to each of our clients and have obtained no more than seven attorneys practicing at one time. We also maintain an experienced, talented, and friendly staff of paralegals and legal assistants to assist our attorneys and clients. As our client, you will feel like you are represented by a “boutique firm” – because you are.
